Our Legacy

William Everett

Ellen’s grandfather, our company’s namesake, was a loved and admired entrepreneur who lived a life of exemplary professional excellence, family dedication and community involvement. As a teenager in St. Louis, Ellen helped manage the shoe store he owned—and learned firsthand the value of business relationships built on trust and mutual respect.

William’s belief that no one should be denied opportunities because of their race, gender or social standing influenced our founding and remains fundamental to our values, our vision and our work.

“Helping my grandfather manage his business taught me so much about entrepreneurship and community – from the way he developed trusting supplier relationships to how he treated each customer with respect and decency. It was an easy decision to name the firm after him and his principles still guide us today.”
